The full range of inpatient nursing care/nursing services. This position requires rotation of shifts (day, evening, and night). Work hours include weekends, holidays and call back.
Job Responsibilities include the following:
- The full range of care/nursing services to patients in the Obstetrics Unit. This position requires rotation of shifts (day and night). Work hours include weekends, holidays and call back.
- Patient care/nursing services to meet the physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and cultural needs of the antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum and newborn patients utilizing established Policies and Procedures.
- Utilizes the nursing process to assess, develop, implement and document nursing interventions.
- Monitors and assesses patients; recognizes urgent and emergency conditions and initiates appropriate interventions.
- Operates specialized equipment, such as but not limited to, Electronic Fetal Monitor, Panda Warmer, Bili light/blanket, cardiac telemetry, cardiac defibrillator, respiratory equipment, Point of Care Testing (POCT), suction machine, IV pumps, pulse oximeter, and EKG equipment, etc.
- Medication administration, treatments or interventions utilizing Standing Orders and/or medical provider orders.
- Collects specimens, i.e., blood, urine, cord blood, etc., as ordered by physician, or as per standing orders.
- Measures and assesses vital signs, height, and weight.
- Assists primary care provider with procedures, such as but not limited to, pelvic exams, patient positions for labor and delivery, etc.
- Health education to patients and/or family.
- Initiates/delegates arrangements for follow-up care.
- Participates in staff meetings, in-service education, and quality improvement activities to improve total hospital system in the delivery of patient care/services.
- Recognizes emergency codes such as Code Blue, Code Yellow, Code Red, Code Pink, etc., Initiates appropriate response to the activation of a Code.
- During periods of low acuity/closure of unit, will float to other nursing units to provide routine patient care e.g., vital signs, POCT, blood draws, initiate IV access, administer medications, etc.
- Nursing assignment is within the Urgent Care setting.
- Patient care/nursing services to meet the physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and cultural needs of the neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients utilizing established Policies and Procedures.
- The Contractor will be responsible for making sure all charting is update as required.
- Nursing services, including but not limited to, gathering and documenting chief complaint, vital signs, GPRA screening, etc., during the initial triage process; observes and documents acute changes in patient condition and promptly notifies the Charge RN and/or medical provider of these changes; administers medications per Standing Orders or per medical provider written order and documents medication effectiveness; provides and documents patient education; performs treatments including but not limited to, EKG, POCT, etc.
- Utilizes therapeutic communication skills in interactions with patients and/or staff.
- Participates in staff meetings, in-service education, and quality improvement activities to improve total hospital system in the delivery of patient care/services.
Work Shift:
LPN/LVN: 8 Hour Shift (08:00 am – 17:00 pm) Monday – Friday with a 60-minute meal break as non-paid.
RN’s: 11.5 Hour Shift – (07:00 am – 19:30 pm; or 08:00 am to 20:30 pm; or 11:00 am to 23:30 pm; or 19:00 pm to 07:30 am or 20:00 pm to 07:30 am). A 60 minute meal break is permitted (as non-paid) for the contractor who is scheduled to work an 11.5 hour shift.
